What is difference between the respiration and reproduction?

Respiration is the process where a living organism produces the energy with the intake of oxygen and release of carbon dioxide produced during the oxidation of complex organic substances.

There are two major types of respiration- aerobic, and anaerobic.

1. Aerobic respiration- The respiration process which takes place in the presence of oxygen is known as aerobic respiration. Glycolysis and Kreb's cycle are a part of aerobic respiration.

2. Anaerobic respiration- The respiration process which takes place in the absence of oxygen is known as anaerobic respiration. It usually occurs in the muscles during physical exercise.

Reproduction is the biological process by which organisms give birth or give rise to a new organism.

It is broadly classified into two types

1. Asexual reproduction is the formation of new individuals from a single parent. Different types of asexual reproduction include budding, fragmentation, fission, vegetative propagation, etc.

Example- Budding (Hydra), Binary fission (Amoeba, bacteria), Fragmentation (Planaria), Spore formation (Ferns), and Vegetative propagation (Onion).

2. Sexual reproduction involves the fusion of male and female gametes to form a zygote, i.e. it involves the process of fertilization. The offspring receives genetic information from both the parents.

Example- All the mammals such as Humans, Cow, Dog, Cat, etc. follow sexual reproduction.
