What is centripetal acceleration?

Centripetal acceleration is defined as the acceleration of an object, moving in a circular path. Any object that is moving in a circle and has an acceleration vector pointed towards the center of that circle is known as Centripetal acceleration. If you tie an object to a string and swirl it is having a centripetal acceleration . If you drive a car around a circle then your car is undergoing centripetal acceleration and a satellite orbiting the earth also has a centripetal acceleration.  Centripetal means towards the center.
