What is Van Mahotsav? When is it observed ? What is the advantage of this project ?

Van Mahotsav is a programme undertaken to celebrate the importance of trees. Van Mahotsav was initiated in 1950 to celebrate the importance of growing and saving forests and to create awareness about the bad effects of deforestation.

It is observed every year in the month of July by planting trees.

The advantage of this project is that by planting more trees
  • the greenhouse effect is reduced.
  • dust particles in the air are reduced.
  • to maintain healthy soils and humidity levels in the air around the world.
  • global reforestation.
  • restoring lost forests (flora and fauna).
  • repairing damaged ecosystems.
