What is amplitude?

Amplitude refers to the maximum displacement or distance moved by a point or object on a vibrating, oscillating body or wave measured from its equilibrium position. It is equal to one-half the length of the vibration path.

The amplitude actually tells us how far the vibrating object is displaced from its central position.
