What is Alloy?

An alloy is the combination of metals or metals combined with one or more other elements.

For example, red gold is made by combining the metallic elements of gold and copper, gold and silver become white gold, and silver, when combined with copper, produces sterling silver.

Advantage of alloy:
The formation of Alloy increases the tensile strength of the original metal.
Alloys are more resistant to corrosion than pure metals because pure metals are chemically reactive and can be easily corroded by the surrounding atmospheric gases and moisture.
