What is Associative property?

Associative Property:

Multiplication of integers is associative. That is, for any three integers, a, b, c,

  • a × (b × c) = (a × b) × c

It means no matter how we group different integers in multiplication, the product remains unaffected.

Example:

For three integers, 2, 3, and 5, their multiplication,

  • 2 × (3 × 5) = (2 × 3) × 5 = 30

For three integers, 2, –6, and –5, their multiplication,

  • 2 × ((–6) × (–5)) = (2 × (–6)) × (–5) = 60
