What is acceleration and deceleration?

Acceleration

Acceleration is the rate of change of velocity. If an object's acceleration is changed in such a way that its velocity is also increased then it is a positive acceleration.

For uniformly accelerated motion, Acceleration is given by

                                                                          $a = \frac{(v - u) }{ t}$

Where, a = acceleration,

v = final velocity,

u =initial velocity

t = time period

 Deceleration:

If an object's acceleration is changed in such a way that its velocity is decreased as time passes by then it is a negative acceleration or deceleration.
