What is a reproduction?

Reproduction is the biological process by which organisms give birth or give rise to a new organism. It is broadly classified into two types- asexual reproduction, and sexual reproduction. 

• Asexual reproduction is the formation of new individuals from a single parent. Different types of asexual reproduction include budding, fragmentation, fission, vegetative propagation, etc.
• Sexual reproduction involves the fusion of male and female gametes to form a zygote, i.e. it involves the process of fertilization. The offspring receives genetic information from both the parents.
