What happens when you mix a strong acid with gold ?
Gold is unaffected by air, water, all acids but except aqua regia, which is a mixture of hydrochloric acid and nitric acid. This solution can dissolve gold. Gold does react with halogens. It will, for example, react very slowly with chlorine gas at room temperature to form gold chloride, AuCl3.
