  • When an ant bites, the liquid that it injects which causes the skin to burn is Methanoic Acid.

  • The Substance used to treat it is Calamine solution or Moist Baking Soda.

  • Calamine solution (contains Zinc Carbonate) is basic in nature and hence neutralizes the Methanoic acid. 

  • It turns Red Litmus to Blue as it is basic in nature.
