What happens to the rain when they fall on the land?

We know that water moves from high region to low region because of gravity. When rainwater falls on the ground, the movement of it would depend on the place of fall and the amount it falls. For example, If it falls on a lower region then it stays there, similarly, if it falls on a higher region then it moves to lower regions. If the amount is large then through the drainage system it moves to a nearby river and then to the ocean.
