Amul is a privately owned Indian dairy cooperative with its headquarters in Anand, Gujarat. 

It is a cooperative brand that was founded in 1946. It is managed by the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd. (GCMMF), which is owned by 36 lakh milk producers in Gujarat and serves as the apex body for 13 district milk unions in 13,000 villages.

Because of Amul's White Revolution, India has become the world's largest producer of milk and milk products.

Tribhuvandas Kishibhai Patel founded the organization with the assistance of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Tribhuvandas Kishibhai Patel founded the organization and led it till his retirement in the 1970s.

He engaged Verghese Kurien in 1949 and persuaded him to stay with the mission. Amul's general manager was Kurien, and the chairman was Tribhuvandas. He assisted in directing the company's technical and marketing initiatives.

Kurien ran Amul for a brief time when Tribhuvandas Kishibhai Patel died in 1994. Kurien, the GCMMF's founder, and chairman for over 30 years (1973-2006), is credited with Amul's marketing success.
