What are wind storms and cyclones ?
Cyclone is nothing but a huge system of air mass in which winds rotate inwardly to low atmospheric pressure. For large cyclones, the wind pattern is in anti-clockwise direction in the northern hemisphere and a clockwise direction in the southern hemisphere.
There are two types of cyclones.
1) mid-latitude cyclones
These cyclones are the main cause of winter storms in middle latitudes.
2) Tropical cyclones
These are very strong. These are also called hurricanes.
Storm:
1) A thunderstorm is a localized storm accompanied by lightning and thunder.
2) It may also have gusty winds and often brings heavy rain.
3) Some thunderstorms can also bring tornadoes and/or hail.
4) Thunderstorms are produced by cumulonimbus clouds and form when air rises rapidly.
