What are the negative numbers?

Negative numbers :

• Negative numbers are located to the left of zero on the number line.

• As we move from left to right the value of negative numbers as well as positive number increases on the number line.
  

• As we move from right to left the value of negative numbers as well as positive number decreases on the number line.

• Positive and negative numbers are opposites of each other.

• The negative number $-5$ is the opposite of the positive number $+5$ and vice versa.

• Opposite numbers are equidistant from zero on the number line.
