What are the differences between yarn and thread?
The differences between yarn and thread are given below:
Yarn | Thread |
1. Yarn is produced by the spinning of textile fibres together. | 1. Thread is produced by twisting two or more plies of yarn together. |
2. Yarn may consist of one or more ply in it. | 2. Thread always consists of more than one ply. |
3. It cannot be referred to as a thread. | 3. It can be referred to as yarn also. |
4. Yarn has less elongation and strength. | 4. Thread has more elongation and strength. |
5. It is normally used in knitting and weaving. | 5. It is mostly used in sewing and needleworks. |
