What are Proper Fractions?


Proper fraction:

A proper fraction is a fraction where the numerator (the top number) is less than the denominator (the bottom number)

For example:

$\frac{4}{5}$ is a proper fraction. Because numerator < denominator.

$\frac{9}{7}$ is an improper fraction. Because numerator > denominator.
