What are yarns made of?
Yarns are made up of thin strands called fibers.
[Extra information: Yarn is a long, continuous thread made of natural or synthetic fibres. It is suitable for textile production, sewing, crocheting, knitting, weaving, embroidery, or rope making. Thread is a type of yarn intended for sewing by hand or machine.
Yarn can be of different types according to their structure:
- A single yarn is produced by twisting staple fibers together.
- A ply yarn is produced by twisting two or more single yarns together.
- A cord yarn is produced by twisting two or more ply or folded yarn.
Fiber is a threadlike strand that is used for spinning yarn. Yarns are further spun into fabric.
Fabric is a material made after weaving, knitting, spreading, or crocheting of thin strands of threads (known as fiber) for the production of garment. There are two main processes of making fabric from yarn are weaving and knitting. ]
