Two times a number is a $ 100 \% $ increase in the number. If we take half the number what would be the decrease in per cent?
Given:
Two times a number is a \( 100 \% \) increase in the number.
To do:
We have to find the decrease in per cent if we take half the number.
Solution:
Let the number be $x$.
Two times the number$=2x$
Half of the number$=\frac{x}{2}$
The decrease in percent$=\frac{x-\frac{x}{2}}{x}\times100 \%$
$=\frac{\frac{x}{2}}{x}\times100 \%$
$=50 \%$
Therefore, there is a 50% decrease in the number.
