Two sides of a parallelogram are in the ratio 5:3. if its perimeter is 64 cm find the length of its side.
Given :
The two sides of a parallelogram are in the ratio 5:3.
The perimeter of the parallelogram $=$ 64 cm.
To do :
We have to find the length of the parallelogram.
Solution :
Let the sides of the parallelogram be 5x and 3x.
We know that,
In a parallelogram opposite sides are equal.
Therefore,
$2(5x+3x) = 64 cm$
$2(8x) = 64 cm$
$16x = 64 cm$
$x = \frac{64}{16} cm$
$x = 4 cm$
The lengths of the sides are $5(4) cm = 20 cm and 3(4) cm = 12 cm$.
Therefore, the length of the parallelogram is 12 cm.
