Two equal side of a triangle are each 4m less than three times the third side. Find the side of the triangle if it's perimeter is 55 m

Given:

Two equal side of a triangle are each 4 m less than three times the third side. The perimeter of the triangle is 55 m.

To do:

We have to find the length of each side of the triangle.

Solution:

Let the length of the third side be $x$.

This implies,

The length of each of the other two sides $=(3x-4)\ m$

Therefore,

$x+3x-4+3x-4=55\ m$

$7x-8=55\ m$

$7x=55+8\ m$

$x=\frac{63}{7}\ m$

$x=9\ m$

$3x-4=3(9)-4\ m=27-4=23\ m$

The lengths of the sides of the triangle are 9 m, 23 m and 23 cm.
