Twelve books can be bought for $ Rs.\ 600 $. If the price of each book increases such that there is a total increase of $ Rs.\ 30 $, how many books can be bought for the same amount?

Given:

Twelve books can be bought for \( Rs.\ 600 \).

The price of each book increases such that there is a total increase of \( Rs.\ 30 \).

To do:

We have to find the number of books that can be bought for Rs. 600.

Solution:

Initial cost of 12 books $=Rs.\ 600$

This implies,

Cost of each book $=Rs. \frac{600}{12}$

$=Rs.\ 50$

Total price increase for 12 books $=Rs.\ 30$

Price increase for each book $=Rs.\ \frac{30}{12}$

$=Rs.\ 2.50$

New cost of each book $=Rs.\ 50+2.50=Rs.\ 52.50$

Therefore,

Number of books that can be bought for Rs. 600 $=\frac{600}{52.50}$

$=11.42$

$\approx 11$

We can buy 11 books.
