The total amount of heat produced by a fuel having a calorific value of 20kJ/kg was found to be 50,000 joules. How much fuel was burnt?
The calorific value is 20kJ/kg. It means that when 1 kg of fuel is burnt, 20 kJ of heat is released.
The amount of fuel burnt that would release 50 kJ of heat is: (50kJ)/(20kJ/kg)
=2.5kg
