The size of a red blood cell is $0.000007\ m$ and the size of a plant cell $0.00001275\ m$. Compare these two, which of the following is correct?A. A red blood cell is approximately $\frac{3}{4}$ of the plant cell in size.B. A red blood cell is approximately $\frac{1}{4}$ of the plant cell in size.C. A red blood cell is approximately half of the plant cell inn size.D. A red blood cell is approximately equal to the plant cell in size.

Given: The size of a red blood cell is $0.000007\ m$ and the size of a plant cell $0.00001275\ m$.

To do: To  compare these two and find correct option.

Solution:

Size of red blood cell$=0.000007=7\times10^{-6}\ m$

Size of plant cell$=0.00001275\ m=1.275\times10^{-5}\ m$

Hence, a red blood cell is half a plant cell

$\therefore \frac{Size\ of\ a\ red\ blood\ cell}{Size\ of\ a\ plant\ cell}=\frac{7\times10^{-6}}{1.275\times10^{-5}} $

$=\frac{7\times10^{-1}}{1.275} $

$=\frac{0.7}{1.275}$

$≈\frac{1}{2}$

Thus, a red blood cell is half a plant cell.

Therefore, option C. is correct.
