The ratio of the length to its width of a park is 5:2. If the width of the park is 14 m, what is its length?
Given:
Ratio of length to width of park = 5 : 2.
Width = 14 m
To do:
Length =?
Solution:
Length and width are in proportion,
$\frac{5}{2}=\frac{length}{breadth}$
$\frac{5}{2}=\frac{length}{14}$
On cross multiplication,
$14 \times 5 = 2 \times length$
$70 = 2 \times length$
$\frac{70}{2}=length$
Length = 35 m
The length of the park is 35 m.
