The probability of selecting a rotten apple randomly from a heap of 900 apples is 0.18 What is the number of rotten apples in the heap ?

Given: Total numbers of apple in the heap$=900$ and the probability of the rotten apple$=0.18$

To do: To find the numbers of rotten apples in the heap.

Solution:

Probability of selecting rotten apple $=\frac{No.\ of\ rotten\ apples}{Total\ number\ of\ apples}$

$0.18=\frac{No.\ of\ rotten\ apples}{900}$

$\Rightarrow$ No. off rotten apples$=900\times 0.18$

$=162$

Thus Number of rotten apples is $162.$
