The price of a TV set inclusive of sales tax of 9% is rupees 13407 . If the sales tax is increases to 13% , how much more does the customer need to pay for the TV set
Given: The price of a TV set inclusive of sales tax of 9% is $₹\ 13407$ and the sales tax is increases to $13$ %.
To do: To find how much more does the customer need to pay for the TV set.
Solution:
Total price paid for T.V. $=₹\ 13,407$
Rate of sales tax = 9%
Let sale price $=₹\ y$
According to question $Y+9$ % of $y=₹\ 13,407$
$\Rightarrow y+\frac{9y}{100}=13,407$
$\Rightarrow \frac{109y}{100}=13,407$
$\Rightarrow 109y=13,407\times100$
$\Rightarrow y=\frac{13,40700}{109}$
$\Rightarrow y=₹\ 12,300$
If the sales is increased by $13$ % then $13$ % of $12300=\frac{12300\times13}{100}=₹\ 1,599$
Increased price$=₹\ 12,300+₹\ 1,599=₹\ 13,899$
More money paid $=₹\ 13,899–₹\ 13,407=₹\ 492$
