Solution:

We know that,

$1\ km=1000\ m$

Perimeter of rectangle $=2$(Length $+$ Breadth)

Therefore,

Length of the park $= 620\ m$.

Breadth of the park $= 0.5\times1000\ m=500\ m$

Perimeter of the rectangular park $=2(620+500)\ m$

$=2(1120)\ m$

$=2240\ m$

Cost of fencing $1\ m= Rs.\ 8$.

Cost of fencing the park of $2240\ m = Rs.\ 8 \times 2240=Rs.\ 17920$

The total cost of fencing the park is Rs. 17920.
