The inner circumference of a circular track is 44 m. If the track is 17.5 m wide everywhere, find the cost of fencing the outer circle at the rate of Rs 4/m


Given: The inner circumference of a circular track is $44$ m. If the track is $17.5$ m wide everywhere.

To do: To find the cost of fencing the outer circle at the rate of Rs $4$/m


Solution

Let the radius of inner circle = r

Circumference of the inner circle = $2 \times \frac{22}{7} \times  r$

                                                            = $44$ m

So r = $44 \times \frac{7}{2 \times 22} = 7$ m

The width of the track  $17.5$ m

So radius of outer circle = $7 + 17.5$ = $24.5$ m

Circumference of outer circle = $2 \times \frac{22}{7} \times 24.5$ = 154 m

Rate of fencing = Rs $4$/m

Cost of fencing outer circle

$4 \times 154 = Rs \ 616$
