The distance between two bus stops is 5 km. A bus travels the distance in 20 min. What is the speed of the bus? Also, convert it into $\frac{m}{s}$ . Can it also be called as the average speed of the bus?
Given: the distance between two bus stops is 5 km. A bus travels the distance in 20 min
To find: the speed of the bus, speed also in $\frac{m}{s}$
Solution:
Distance between bus stops = 5 km
Time taken to cover 5 km = 20 min = $\frac{20}{60}hr$ = $\frac{1}{3}hr$
Speed of bus = $\frac {Distance}{time}$ =$\frac {5}{\frac{1}{3}}$ = $15 kmph$
Speed in $\frac{m}{s}$ = $15 kmph$ $\times \frac {5}{18}$ = $4.17$ $\frac{m}{s}$
So Speed of bus =
