Solution:

Let the side length of the plot = a meter

Now,

Area of square plot = 64 m²  

a² = 64 m²  

a = $\sqrt{64}$ m  

a = 8 m  

So, side of the square field is 8 m.

Also,

Perimeter of square plot = 4a

Perimeter of square plot = 4 $\times$ 8 m

Perimeter of square plot = 32 m

Therefore, side length and perimeter of the square are 8 m and 32 m respectively.
