Take three test-tubes. Fill each of them with water. Label them A, B and C. Keep a snail in test-tube A, a water plant in test-tube B and in C, keep snail and plant both. Which test-tube would have the highest concentration of CO2?
The test tube A will have the highest concentration of carbon dioxide CO2, because snail breathes out carbon dioxide during respiration. The test tube B contains a water plant, which breath in CO2 for photosynthesis and breathe out O2. Hence, the concentration of O2 is seen in test tube B. The test tube C contains both snail and a water plant, where the CO2 released by the snail is utilized by the plant for the photosynthesis and the O2 released by the plant is utilized by snail for respiration. Hence, the test tube A will have the highest concentration of carbon dioxide.
