State whether the following statement is true or false:the sex of an infant is not a case of inheritance of characteristics.
Correct Answer: False
Explanation:
The sex of an infant is a case of inheritance of characteristics because the gender of an infant is determined by the type of chromosomes inherited by the parents. Mother will always responsible for producing X type of chromosome but, there are two possibilities for father, X or Y chromosome.
If the father's X chromosome merges with the mother's X chromosome then the sex of a child will be a baby girl, and if father's Y chromosome merges with mother's X chromosome then the baby will be a boy.
