Given :

Somu's age is half the age of his sister.

After twelve years his sister will become 26 years old.

To find :

We have to find the present ages of Somu and his sister.

Solution : 

Let the present age of the Somu be $x$.

This implies,

The present age of his sister $= 2x$

Age of Somu after 12 years $= x+12$

Age of his sister after 12 years $= 2x+12$.

Therefore,

$2x+12 =26$

$2x = 26-12$

$2x = 14$

$x = \frac{14}{2}=7$

$\Rightarrow 2x=2(7)=14$ years

The present age of Somu is $7$ years and the present age of his sister is $14$ years.
