Solve the following quadratic equation by factorization:
$48x^2\ –\ 13x\ –\ 1\ =\ 0$

Given:

Given quadratic equation is $48x^2\ –\ 13x\ –\ 1\ =\ 0$.

To do:

We have to solve the given quadratic equation by factorization.

Solution:

$48x^2\ –\ 13x\ –\ 1\ =\ 0$

$48x^2-16x+3x-1=0$

$16x(3x-1)+1(3x-1)=0$

$(16x+1)(3x-1)=0$

$16x+1=0$ or $3x-1=0$

$16x=-1$ or $3x=1$

$x=\frac{-1}{16}$ or $x=\frac{1}{3}$

The roots of the given quadratic equation are $\frac{-1}{16}$ and $\frac{1}{3}$.
