Solution:
As given, $3( x+2)-2(x-1)=7$
$\Rightarrow 3x+6-2x+2=7$
$\Rightarrow x+8=7$
$\Rightarrow x=7-8$
$\Rightarrow x=-1$
Therefore, $x=-1$.
