Simplify the following:$\frac{5}{8}-\frac{7}{12}$

Given :

The given expression is $\frac{5}{8}-\frac{7}{12}$

To do :

We have to simplify the given expression.

Solution :

$\frac{5}{8}-\frac{7}{12}$

LCM of 8 and 12 is,

$8 = 2\times2\times2$

$12 = 2\times2\times3$

LCM of 8 and 12 $= 2\times2\times2\times3 = 24$

$\frac{5}{8}-\frac{7}{12} = \frac{(5\times3-7\times2)}{24}$

                    $= \frac{(15-14)}{24}$

                    $= \frac{1}{24}$.

Therefore, the value of $\frac{5}{8}-\frac{7}{12}$ is $\frac{1}{24}$.
