Sachin scored twice as many ruins as Rahul. Together, their runs, fell two short of a double century. How many runs did each one score?

Given :

Sachin scored twice as many runs as Rahul.

Together, their runs fell two short of a double century.

To do :

We have to find their scores.

Solution :

Let the number of runs scored by Rahul be x.

This implies, the number of runs scored by Sachin $= 2x$.

Therefore,

$x+2x=200-2$

$3x=198$

$x=\frac{198}{3}$

$x=66$

The number of runs scored by Rahul is 66 and the number of runs scored by Sachin is 2(66)=132.

Therefore, their scores of Rahul and Sachin are 66 and 132 respectively.
