Rukhsar painted the outside of the cabinet of measure 1m $\times$ 2m $\times$ 1.5m.How much
surface area did she cover if she painted all except the bottom of the cabinet.

Given:  Rukhsar painted the outside of the cabinet of measure 1m $\times$ 2m $\times$ 1.5m

To find: How much the surface area did she cover if she painted all except the bottom of the cabinet.

Solution:

Surface area which is painted  =  Front area $+$ Back area $+$ Area of top $+$ Area of left side $+$ Area of right side

Front area  = $ 2 \times 1.5  =  3$ m2

Back area  =   $2  \times 1.5  =  3$ m2

 Area of top = $1  \times 2  =  2$  m2

 Area of left side  =  $1  \times 1.5  =  1.5$  m2

 Area of right side = $1  \times 1.5  =  1.5$  m2

Surface area which is painted  =  $3 + 3 + 2 + 1.5 + 1.5  =  6 + 2 + 3   =  11$  m

Surface area which is painted  =  11  m2
