Regarding energy, our biosphere is an open system but regarding minerals, it is closed system. Justify the statement.

The energy from sun gets radiated into the Earth’s system. This energy gets radiated back into space with the flows Earth’s atmosphere and ozone layer.  This transfer of energy maintains the surface temperature which suitable for all life forms.

The Earth is a closed system for matter which comprises of all solids, liquids, and gases.

Matter cannot leave the system because of the force of gravity and it is impossible to destroy matter as per the laws of thermodynamics. Hence the Earth is a closed box for minerals.
