Ravish's house is $\frac{9}{10}$ km from the school. He walked some distance and then took a bus for $\frac{1}{2} km to reach the school. How far did he walk?

Given:

Distance between Ravish's house and school = $\frac{9}{10}$ km

Distance Ravish cover by bus = $\frac{1}{2}$ km

To find: Here we have to find distance covered by Ravish on foot.

Solution:

Distance from ravish's house to his school = $\frac{9}{10}$ km

He traveled distance $\frac{1}{2}$ km by bus.

So,

The distance which he traveled on foot = Total distance $-$ Distance traveled by bus

The distance which he traveled on foot = $\frac{9}{10}\ -\ \frac{1}{2}$ km

The distance which he traveled on foot = $\frac{9\ -\ 5}{10}$ km

The distance which he traveled on foot = $\frac{4}{10}$ km

The distance which he traveled on foot = $\frac{2}{5}$ km

So, he walked $\frac{2}{5}$ km.
