Given :

Number of non fruit trees planted $= 77$.

The number of non fruit trees are two more than three times the number of fruit trees.

To find :

We have to find the number of fruit trees.

Solution :

Let the number of fruit trees be x.

This implies,

The number of non fruit tress = $3x + 2$

$3x + 2 = 77$

$3x = 77-2$

$3x = 75$

$x = \frac{75}{3}$

$x=25$

Therefore, the number of fruit trees planted was 25.
