One shirt is stitched in 2 m 25 cm of cloth. How many shirtS will be stitched in 24 m 75 cm of cloth?

Given: Cloth needed to stitch one shirt $= 2\ m\ 25\ cm$.

To do:

We have to find the number of shirts that can be stiched from $24\ m\ 75\ cm$ of cloth.

Solution:

Total length of cloth $=24\ m\ 75\ cm$

$1\ m = 100\ cm$

$24\ m  =  24 \times 100\ cm = 2400\ cm$

$2\ m  = 2\times100\ cm= 200\ cm$

So, $2\ m\ 25\ cm = (200 + 25)\ cm = 225\ cm$

$24\ m\ 75\ cm = (2400+75)\ cm  = 2475\ cm$

Number of shirts that can be stitched $=$ Total length of cloth $\div$ Cloth needed to stitch one shirt

$=\frac{2475}{ 225}$

$= 11$

11 shirts can be stitched out of 24 m 75 cm of cloth.
