On a rainy day, 94 percent of the students were present in a school. If the number of students absent on that day was 174, find the total strength of the school.
Given :
Percentage of students present on rainy day$=94$%.
Number of students absent $=174$.
To do :
We have to find the total strength of the school.
Solution :
Let the total strength of the school be 'x'.
Percentage of students absent $=100-94=6$%.
So, 6% of $x = 174$
$\frac{6}{100}x = 174$
$x = 174 \times \frac{100}{6}$
$x = 29 \times 100$
$x = 2900$
Therefore, the total strength of the school is 2900.
