Hypermetropiaalso known as long-sightedness or far-sightedness, is a defect of vision that can be corrected by using converging lenses.

The following ray diagram shows the correction of hypermetropia using a convex lens.

Fig. (a) It shows the diverging rays of light coming from a nearby object form a blurred image, as the image is formed at a point behind the retina.

Fig. (b) It shows the near point of the hypermetropic eye.

Fig. (c) It shows the correction of the defect using convex lenses in which the rays of light from the nearby objects get converged to form a clear and sharp image of the object on the retina.
