Mixing carbon dioxide into Lime water changes it to milky white. Why?
It is called Lime Water Test. When carbon dioxide gas is passed through lime water, it turns milky due to the formation of calcium carbonate. Lime water has Calcium Hydroxide in it. When you add Carbon Dioxide to it, a white colour Calcium Carbonate is formed, which gives a milky colour to the Lime Water.
