The differences between a real image and a virtual image are:

Real ImageVirtual Image
Real images can be captured on the screen as rays converge at that point. Virtual images cannot be captured as rays appear to diverge from that point. They can be viewed in the lens or mirror. 

A real image is formed by the actual intersection of light rays

A virtual image is formed by extending the light rays. Actual intersection does not occur
