1. Biodiversity is a combination of biological and diversity. It is the variety and variability of plant and animal life in the surroundings along with their habitat.

2. Forests are considered ‘‘biodiversity hot spots’’ because they consist of many plants and animal life living together. The communities they form also comes under biodiversity.

3. The national park is a protected area formed by governing bodies to protect wildlife and help them to reproduce and increase the number of species.

4. The biosphere reserve is the area used to conserve biodiversities like plants, animals, and microorganisms. It consists of wildlife sanctuaries and national parks.

5. In the biosphere reserve, the transition zone allows human activities and crop cultivation, the buffer zone allows tourism and grazing of animals, and the core zone allows no human activity. 

6. New terms were introduced such as red data book, endemic species, extinct species, endangered species, sanctuary, etc.
