Is dissolution of quick lime a physical change or chemical change?Why?

Dissolution of quick lime is a  chemical change.

• When quick lime is added to water, it reacts to form calcium hydroxide (slaked lime) and heat energy is released.

           CaO(s) + H₂O → Ca(OH)₂ + heat

              Quicklime         slaked lime

• A new substance is formed and the we can't get back the original reactants by ordinary physical means. It is an Irreversible Reaction.
