Like all reptiles, Snakes are cold-blooded that cannot control their body temperature and therefore becomes sluggish in cold weather.

Their body temperature changes according to the temperature of their surroundings, so to regulate the body temperature they lie in the sun to warm up or move into the shade to cool down.
