In which quadrant or on which axis do each of the points $ (-2,4),(3,-1),(-1,0) $, $ (1,2) $ and $ (-3,-5) $ lie? Verify your answer by locating them on the Cartesian plane.
To do:
We have to find in which quadrant or on which axis the points \( (-2,4),(3,-1),(-1,0) \), \( (1,2) \) and \( (-3,-5) \) lie.
Solution:
To find the quadrant or axis of the points $(-2, 4), (3, -1), (-1, 0), (1, 2)$ and $(-3, -5)$, plot the points on the graph, as shown below.
From the above graph, we can conclude that
Point $(-2, 4)$ lies in the $2$nd quadrant.
Point $(3, -1)$ lies in the $4$th quadrant.
Point $(-1, 0)$ lies on negative X-axis.
Point $(1, 2)$ lies in the $1$st quadrant.
Point $(-3, -5)$ lies in the $3$rd quadrant.
